Q1How do I calculate how many units to draw on an insulin syringe?
Units depend on your reconstitution concentration. If you dissolved 5 mg (5,000 mcg) in 2 mL BW, the concentration is 2,500 mcg/mL. For a 250 mcg dose: 250 ÷ 2,500 = 0.1 mL = 10 units on a 100-unit syringe. The Dosage Calculator above performs this conversion automatically.
Q2What is the difference between mcg and mg in peptide dosing?
1 mg equals 1,000 mcg (micrograms). Peptide vials are labeled in mg (e.g. 5 mg), but doses are usually prescribed in mcg because peptides are active at very small amounts. Always convert before drawing: a 5 mg vial contains 5,000 mcg of peptide.
Q3What syringe size is best for peptide injections?
A 1 mL (100-unit) insulin syringe with a 29–31 gauge, 0.5 inch needle is the standard for subcutaneous peptide injections. Shorter 5/16 inch (8 mm) needles are comfortable for abdominal injections. Always use a new sterile syringe for each injection.
